Can I ask why not a 1XXX series card? only a bit better. 1070 is 50% (or so online says) increase on the 970.

Price range was the biggest factor in picking the 970. I simply couldn't resist buying a $200 970 off Amazon. Another factor was the frame rate performance. The 970 hold it own against Nvidia and AMD newer graphics card.

I guess. But for a little more you could have gotten a 1060 or 1070. A 1070 is like 50% increase over a 970 (which is what I also currently have). But a 1060 is still better. I guess I would pay the increase of the price for a better card.

I would love to get a 1070 or 1080 but I don't have the money to buy one of the newer cards right now. I may switch to the 1060 when Nvidia starts lowering the price for it.

    970 to 1060 isn't a worth while upgrade IMO. I would save for at least a 1070.

buying a 970 then a 1060/1070 isnt cost efficient, shouldve just saved for a 1080 if you plan on putting down $600+ on GPUs in a year

Actually it would be better to save for Nvidia upcoming Volta cards. Nvidia will come out with a brand new graphics card once you get a 1060/1070. That's why I got a Zotac 970 when it was on sale for $200.

I wish! The GTX 970 usually cost around $300 to $400 dollars.
