Best video card for gaming?

Need some suggestions for what gfx card I should get for gaming  My ATI Radeon HD 4350 card just isn't cutting it since my fps drops dramatically if theres smoke, fire, explosions, etc around and it's getting really frustrating. What I'm looking for is a gaming card that I can easily get 150+ fps in mostly every game on the highest settings, price doesn't matter but I'd prefer it to be under $500

P.S: I don't know much about PCs >__< Already searched for some on google but the reviews are like really outdated..

Current specs (If that matters lol):
    Windows Vista Ultimate 64 Bit
    Intel Core 2 Duo E4500 2 @ 2.20 ghz
    ATI Radeon HD 4350
    4gb ddr2 ram

580 ftw. or the 480. Still one of the highest clocked cards.

Usually the ones with the most numbers and letters work the best.

What case do you have and what's your psu?
Those matter in switching out for a new vgc.
The bigger and faster cards might not fit and your psu might not be able to handle it.

Nvidia GTX 590 is currently the fastest and most stable card on the market.

What's your current power supply and what kind of gaming are you looking for? Max quality on battlefield3 with good fps etc.

I know, I have six fans, plus the CPU fan and PS fan, it is a monster, but it is still somewhat quiet, just pumps out tons of heat. Cat's love it though... Haha

Call me outdated but I'm still on the Nvidia 8800GT 512MB. I used it when I custom built at the time...was like 3-4 years back. It does everything I need it to do, and more.

Even for this time, stick with the GTX 460's they're $200 cards and very powerful, able to run 90% of todays games

I recommend the ATI 6950 or Nvidia 560Ti for a budget GPU. Also the 580 and 6970 is a good card for higher end. Of course you might need to upgrade your PSU depending on which GPU you want and the current PSU status.
