One of the things I mentioned briefly in another thread is how silly it is that zombies instantly transform. So I've been reading through the Zombie Mod forums to see if anyone else has come up with ideas on that. After a few hours of slogging through posts I found all kinds of crazy suggestions like multiple knife hits and loooong delays of one or two full minutes (!?) with blurred vision and shit like that, even from ATIX of atix_helicopter fame (Cool to see SauceHelmet involved over there too, btw). All I'm really interested in is a one or two second delay instead of *poof* you're a zombie. Freeze player controls and cause some violent stuttering/shaking as a visual cue before they poof, so they can't just immediately turn around and knife the humans nearby. Give them full zombie health as soon as they get hit and let them take damage and knockback too. That might help with assholes who try to get zombied or really don't care that they can get knifed by standing too close to a cade/window/opening or constantly running over to the edge of a box/truck/ledge trying to get kills. The attacking zombie still gets a kill and it might make careless players think twice about risking a stupid position if they know the other humans nearby have a better chance of gunning them down or away. It would also slow down those crazy chain reactions a bit, but your chances of survival are still practically zero if you're all packed/stacked in something like sardines and everyone aims away from the cade or opening. I don't see it having a big effect on game balance, just makes it a little more interesting and slightly more (ahem) realistic. Was/is there a cvar implemented that slows down zombie transform? If not I might register and repost this over at Zombie Mod.
