Got a shitty computer giving you shitty FPS?

    I don't know why people struggle with FPS in a 2005 game, which also is CPU dependent more than GPU. Anyway I will give a bit of help to improve your FPS.

    First you need to figure it out for yourself which Resolution fits you best. You may also have a shitty LCD monitor.
    Run the game in Full Screen, not Window Mode. And Native may be too much for the LCD so lower the Resolution.

    Next you need to put all settings to the lowest with your shitty computer.
    Multicore Rendering disabled because your shitty CPU doesn't have multicores.

    Next is the CFG. Put the following below in a autoexec.cfg which you save to Steam\steamapps\common\Counter-Strike Source\cstrike\cfg
    // SOURCE

    Just use Notepad and remove the .txt in the end of the filename when you save.

    Some GFX files that helps improving the FPS
    High FPS fire and High FPS particle

    High FPS weapons or nodraw_weapons might help a bit. (untested)

    NOTE: A lot of commands doesn't work unless sv_cheats 1 so I have removed the ones that doesn't work anymore.

      Did you intend on this being in the ZE forum or did you want me to move it somewhere like the technical forum?

      I already have all my settings on the lowest possible. I haven't done the autoconfig thing yet so wonder if that will improve my FPS. I don't know if it is even really bad. I would guess it average around 25, lol. It's usually red in the upper right hand corner (I have cl_showfps 1 enabled). My Internet is absolutely lousy too (I get intermittent severely poor ping/latency >400). I need a new ISP and computer, lol.

      Keep my post here please, CS:S ZE.

      @Aprz net_graph 3 instead of cl_showfps 1
    • Mar 26, 2012
      I have both. I just usually look at cl_showfps 1 cause it is colored.

      Even though CSS came out in 2004, they've continuously updated the source engine so it should be no surprise that the requirements have increased as they've improved the engine.

        This really depends. People should try it either way. In some cases, it can improve FPS, in others it won't. Whether you have multiple cores or not. It's kind of like CoD4. There was an option for Dual GPU's, and even if you had 1 GPU and set it to enabled, your FPS was boosted by like 30 no problem. It's just one of those commands that don't work as intended.

        That could cause issues for ZM players depending on the props that the mapper has used. I know that this is in the ZE section, but i'm sure ZM players will try this guide.

        This sounds terrifying.
