    Hey guys, thought I should share this tutorial since it increased my fps from 9-60 to a solid 100 :smile:

    Might give this to my friend if he still plays CS:S.

    I get almost a max 300 on certain maps :razz:

    mat_bumpmap 0 // _disables bumpmapping_
    mat_fastnobump 1 // _faster bump mapping_
    this makes no sense at all

    There's a way to get a constant 300-400 but the graphics are horrible. Just look up counterstrike source fps boost on youtube.

    I couldnt alt tab.

    The only fps config I ever used was really the only one that ever worked for me.
    cl_cmdrate 100; cl_updaterate 101; rate 30000

    best FPS boost ever is fpsOPTIMIZED maps!

    and this is my post # 700

    cl_cmdbackup 2
    cl_cmdrate 45
    cl_interp 0.01
    cl_interpolate 1
    cl_lagcomp_errorcheck 1
    cl_lagcompensation 1
    cl_updaterate 40
    cl_smooth 1
    rate 23000
    Those netcode settings are shit, especially for PF servers. Use cl_cmdrate 67, cl_updaterate 67, cl_lagcomp_errorcheck 0, and rate 45000 (or higher, up to 75000)

    r_teeth 0 // _removes teeth from player models_
    That may save .01 FPS. Not worth making the player models look fucked up over a minimal FPS increase.

    mat_vsync 0 // _disables vertical synchronization_
    This introduces screen tearing since the game isn't limited to your monitor's refresh rate.

    mat_reducefillrate 1 // _reduces shader fill rate_
    Counter productive.

    mat_bumpmap 0 // _disables bumpmapping_
    mat_fastnobump 1 // _faster bump mapping_
    mat_fastspecular 1 // _fast specular lighting_
    As said above, makes no sense. There's no bump mapping at all with this...

    //r_3dnow 1 // _enables 3DNow! instruction set_
    //r_mmx 1 // _enables MMX instruction set_
    //r_sse 1 // _enables SSE instruction set_
    //r_sse2 1 // _enables SSE2 instruction set_
    Why disable instruction sets? Leaving them enabled will help increase FPS for old hardware.

    When I first saw this Thread title, I thought it was gonna be like "Increase your penis size" for some reason xD

    Last time I used Casey's config it fucked my game up really bad. Never looked back on it.
  11. Feb 18, 2011
    With little work it can be converted into a beast script lol. Its already annoying enough as it is :\
  12. Oct 10, 2010
    Casey's config is some years old,
    i used it in the past, but i think its outdated now
  13. Feb 17, 2011
    so how does this config work?
    what do i need to copy and where?

    You must have crap pc if you have low fps in css :confused:
  16. Mar 25, 2011
    any poorly optimized map or clusterfuck of effects in css can significantly drop fps on even relatively new PC's (obviously not top of the line ones).
  17. Feb 1, 2010
    One word crap pc :smile:
  18. Jun 23, 2010
    I could care less about config CSS. As long as I could run the game at a decent FPS (Which I already do :grin:). Unless I'm a hacker or something since every FPS counts xD

    My Framerate on Minas Tirith drops from 90FPS to less than 10 if I make the mistake of looking at the smoke left from the rocks being flung by catapults.

    I know my video card isnt exactly cutting edge, ATI Radeon HD5650 Mobile, but if I can get 30FPS+ on Crysis 1 on max settings...

    back on topic :razz:
    how do u use it?
    i copied it into a text file and renamed it to autoexe.cfg
    but nothing happend
