Mapping Ideas

    I'm back from a small break of moving and getting situated and whatnot. I want to jump back into the mapping scene, and was brainstorming for ideas. If you have an idea, please drop one here. If possible, leave a short description of what it would be like and if there are any special stuff to it.

    - ze/zm
    - space/space station/ship (or maybe a base on another planet)
    - vacuum and airlocks which actually pushes the players
    - abandoned/broken/infested base/space ship with several "areas" within it, and by infested i mean something towards this direction.
    - 1-2 main paths with lots and lots sub-paths and vents connecting with eachother/the other main path. add some randomized blockers/turnways within the smaller paths.
    - several "objectives" which will add perks and advantages towards the big ending hold area, it shouldn't be something too easily acquired though. Try adding some teamwork based requirements, reward teamwork!
    - items/bosses = all up to you, nothing i would personally demand for something like this. I guess that some kind of alien boss with severable limbs/whatever would be kinda cool though.

    That's pretty much all my mind could come up with at this moment. feel free to remove/tweak any of the things i mentioned yet alone ignore it completely. I'm just brainstorming. :wink:

      Dude... this was the map I was working on when we came up with the idea a couple of months ago... :stop: lol Since it's sorta inactive at the moment, Noodles, feel free to take the idea. :waiting:

        I think the couch level in ze_random is both hilarious and brilliant: having to move an item all the way through the map while simultaneously keeping the zombies away, with the only means of victory being the successful transportation of this item. If the zombies manage to get to the item, all the humans are killed.

        It sort of reminds me of payload mode in TF2, or to a lesser degree the ring-bearer in Mines of Moria / Mt. Doom.

            A ze doctor who map with time themed levels and bosses.

            MG Boss Arena:
            -Co-op of up to 30++ people in a team (CTs) against a horde of neutral AI-controlled bosses (real hard bosses)
            -Level system, the humans who managed to stay alive and defeat a boss gets a level, with levels you can get better weapon choices, powerups and upgrades
            (e.g. you start with fighting the boss with a glock, after you get a level, you get more choices (m3, dualies, xm1014) and after another level, you get even better weapons
            Powerups: you can either spend the level on a better weapon or a powerup (e.g. more health to spare, more speed, higher jumps)

            I never watched TRON, or is it a game? Forgot it, too lazy too search after since I need to go to school in about five minutes

            Well it is a movie and most of the Tron movies have similar story where the protagonist gets trap inside a software and basically try to find his way to get back to real world. However, there are some games too, but most of them are just light cycle racing.

            That's something @Luffaren would do. I could make a Tron zm map, but a ze map would be way more interesting.

            Sorry to say, and sorry to Luffaren, but it's something anyone could do. There is no such things as a theme being dedicated to a particular mapper. Not that I would want to make one though, idk the movie

            Looks like a good idea, I'm only worried about how well any mapper will be able to recreate the graphics in the movie, in css. I've never watched the movie but from the screenies it looks dark/reflecting/and really cornered. I'll admit I'm not a good mapper but I can think of only one example which combined this (in CSS) and made it look nice, however that was GG... Don't get me wrong I'm not a graphic whore, but this is one of these movies (it seems) that strongly relies on graphics I just wonder what the outcome would be on ZE. (Besides if the maps good I'll play it anyway no matter how ugly someone made it.)

            The graphics are not hard to recreate, but imo they seem boring to recreate, and repetitive... However it seems that TRON remains a point of interest among many players, since it's not the first time TRON comes up as a suggestion for a ZE map

            Nope, I know for a fact only @Luffaren can do it. No other mapper. SDK wouldn't allow anybody to compile a TRON map without Luffaren's fingerprint, voice verification, and semen sample. Plain and simple.

              Well I think a Thron map could come out really well, especially a motorcycle item hihi
              The graphics shouldnt be hard to make. There are a lot of glowing neon textures and reflecting ones out there, also with great quality. And if you dont find a special texture, simply make it by yourself. That's no problem imo
              It would probably be harder to catch the atmosphere of the movie, but I dont know ... I am not experienced enough I guess
