New server Sexy-ness.

    We just bought a much newer, more powerful box to put our CPU-whoring servers on (ZM1, ZM2, and ZE). This will be a very significant upgrade in regards to lag reduction. The major contributing factor to this is the fact that this CPU is clocked much higher (3.6-3.8GHz vs our older CPU which clocks at 2.7-2.8GHz), on top of numerous architectural enhancements, combined with the upgrade to an SSD, it will help a lot. Our less CPU intensive servers such as MG and ZE #2 will remain on our old server for the time being while we prepare to get a second Sandy Bridge server, which we will end up moving these servers to. Thanks goes out to Kyle for doing the majority of the work.

    In theory with an 18% performance gain it should eliminate almost all lag except for those problematic maps such as Tower or Battleforce.

    So will this enable you to raise the slot ceiling back to 64 (or w/e it was) or is it a different reason why it's down to 48? and also great news!

    18% clock-to-clock, yes, but the architectural enhancements are massive as well, so that also helps a lot..

    ZE full with 64 players on ze_LOTR_Minas_ Tirith_v1 at 66tic and it ran fine majority of the time. Few spikes but that's to be expected. Curious how it will run on 33tic with 64 players on that map, it's been reduced to 56 slots at 66tic for the time being though. Seems this box might just have been worth it after all! :yes:
