yes there is a map either search or this use: 1 paper on the top 3 spaces and 1 paper on the bottom 3 spaces and 1 on the left and 1 on the right. so you left with one space the middle. put a compass inside the middle and you should be able to get a map and shows you where you are and where had you been to. i hope this help. or go to http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Crafting that might help you.

I had absolutely NO idea what on earth you were both talking about until I noticed this was in the Minecraft forum.

    Then I :wallbash: ed

By the way, you could make the Map, which can help greatly. This is what it should look like when you craft the map in the Crafting Table:

You can also find out more about how the map works here:

If you're really lost, you should kill yourself and hopefully you will have made your house near the spawn.

Good luck and I hope that's helpful enough.

If you have single player commands mod installed just press t and type home it will take you to your spawn point. Hopefully ur house is near by.. if not just hope you run across it.

When you start a game you have no map and your best option is to start your initial base near spawn so as to not get lost.

There's also mods you can use for minimaps and such, since the map you can craft kind of sucks...

Id help further if I used any of that shit. Good luck.

Windows key->Run->enter "%APPDATA%", browse for .mincraft/bin and there you'll find your file. There you'll find the minecraft.jar file.
