I made a thread a while ago that pointed this out but it seemed to get ignored. Why nomination system is broke: Most of you already know why but for those who don't here's my explanation; People abuse the nomination system by nominating their favorite map at the very start, Before most have even connected, and they get the #1 spot along with about 10 extra votes on average from 1 spammers. How do we know 1 spammers exist? Pitchblack, a map which MANY people hate ( i love it but hear so much complaining ) was voted over predator 30 votes (pitchblack) to around 14 (predator) only because 20 people spammed 1 and the people who did not know what pitchblack was thought it was a good map that everyone likes. Point is people should not be able to force us to play their favorite map, when the majority actually do not want that map. People quick nom almost every round and I would say 70% of the time their map gets chosen. If you take a look at the server stats on gametracker you will notice that pred+mako are being played on the server 40% of the time even though there are something like 30 fun, playable maps. Easy fix: Randomize nomination placements and limit max nominations to 4. Make it so that when someone nominates, whether it be at the start of the map or at the end, their nomination is placed randomly from 1-6. This would not stop 1 spammers but it would stop people from forcing maps on us which is the main problem. This would still give people a chance to play their favorite maps because they still can get the 1 spot if they are lucky, but it would not guarantee it.
