As I was logging off of FFXIV for the day I thought "I haven't played minecraft in a while, wonder what's changed". Apparently a lot. I saw they're renting server space through themselves for $13. Last time there wasn't much buzz about it and the server we were running (and our work on it; mostly dharkk's) eventually flopped. Do people still have an interest in minecraft? (I realize this question and the last sentence of the first paragraph contradict each other but there was enough people logging in before, enough to warrant running a modded server for a few months.) With the realms servers you need to be invited to join/play, the servers are really small right now and according to the FAQ 20 can be invited total, and 10 can be on at one time. If there's enough interest I can throw $13 to test it out for a month but I want there to be a solid interest in it first otherwise it will be a waste of time and a month's FFXIV sub, and that would make me pretty salty. Modding isn't allowed just yet, so it would most likely offer creative and survival at the very least. There are no size restrictions either so no worries about 2k block borders to save space. The payment options are nice because I can either set recurring or single payments depending on the longevity I want instead of worrying about a possibly missed monthly bill and other random-bullshit RSVP from the host's mail bot. I've got no problem doing this but I think minecraft is infinitely more fun when there's a group of us playing.
