So this september,my rotations start, and I have a rotation, or clerkship in Hoisingtion, KS. Its 4 hrs from KC, so my school set me up with an apt there. So I will be stranded in the middle of nowhere, KS for a month. I have recently gotten a laptop from Dell. Of course the cheapest solution was to get Vista.

I get. So, I was wondering if anyone is using Vista and Steam. I was probably gonna install it on my laptop, and was wondering what experiences ppl have had.

Didn't ck have a nightmare with vista and steam? Anyone have anything good for me to look forward to?

I know I wont be working 24/7 while at Hoisingtion, so I'd like to hop on PF now and again to relieve some stress

grr, this is no help :frown:

I didnt have a choice to get vista on my laptop. So far, I've had no problems with it. Though I've only installed Firefox and Open office.

Well hopefully it'll work. If not, then i guess I wont be on the server for the month of September.

Anyone else have experience with vista/steam?

what are u talking about its so stable its not funny this is the best operating system made my microsoft and oh my god look at all the pretty colours i see blue green yellow and .. some red also

But on a serious note Steam works but as Windows vista is memory dependent i hope u got 2gigs of ram because ur going to be in for one hell of a time attempting to play.

Right-click the steam shortcut, compatibility tab, open menu, select Windows XP 32bit service pack 2 (Or anything that sounds like it SP3 is out to beta testers already so...) click apply. And it should run... However dont get ur hopes up for xfire its still extremely buggy in vista in-game does not work what so ever.

    Hope this helps

ah. It does kyle, thanks. I started downloading CSS last night. It'll take forever but I'll get it on my laptop eventually. I got 2 gigs of memory, cuz I heard vista was a memory hog. I'm sure it'll all be used too.

Marketing... "Hrm why should i get the new one if its 200 dollars more ill get windows xp instead."
So they flipped it now vista is like 150 for ultimate and xp pro is still $400. In 2011 when windows xp is discontinued/microsoft is no longer supporting it, then expect a major price drop.

Windows vista is like Windows ME it should not have been released. (beta 3 of windows vista was fine but when the new theme Aero came out... it was a bloody mess.)
