    THIS IS A THREAD REPOST. I AM GOING TO RUN ADDITIONAL TESTS. PLEASE READ BELOW;

    I'm going to attempt to decrease the time it takes to download files from the server. One of the steps I will be making to do this is to try moving the FastDL to a faster server if I find that players are not downloading files as fast as their connection allows. This will help reduce the large initial download for the server and any subsequent downloads after that to download additional maps, new admin skins as they are added, etc.

    Please provide me with the following data to help me test the current and potentially new Fast Download server:

    Please post that information in kiloBytes per second. IE, Chrome, and FireFox uses this measurement by default. For example, I get:

    FastDL #1: http://plaguefest.com/cstrike/maps/mg_n64_goldeneye_v2.bsp.bz2
    FastDL #2: http://69.162.109.180/test/mg_n64_goldeneye_v2.bsp.bz2

    Additionally, please run a speedtest at speedtest.net

    Thanks.

    Fast DL #1: 2700 KB/s
    Fast DL #2: maxed at 250 KB/s and fell to ~150 KB/s to ~200 KB/s

    No idea why the box was so much slower for me. Averaged 180 KB/s the entire download.

    Speedtest:

    23.72mbps

    Probably the I/O scheduler, which is constantly prioritizing to SRCDS.

    Just tried it again now 2.5 hours later and it's still slow as tits. It's constantly prioritizing SRCDS? Would it then be pointless for me to continue to try #2 at different times? :geek:

    Once server load decreases it should be better. It would probably be really good on the new box, actually... Considering it's not under much load.
