Both are sets of Dominator RAM, but which should I buy. Note the prices.

Added the fact that I bought the HDDs.

Ah crap. I am too used to FP's system of auto merging double posts.

Class. I ordered my hard drives today.

I originally was going to get number 1 but then found 2. But thinking of making it THE best makes me want number one. As said, I might get 1 and then buy a matching pair at a later date.

    To buy:
    CPU
    Motherboard
    PSU
    Optical Drives
    GPU
    RAM

Well, the significantly tighter timings should (theoretically) translate into a better o/c for #1. But if Ace got #2 and is happy with his o/c, you really can't go wrong there (I always like getting a product which has been given a *stamp* of approval by some one in the know). Nevertheless, I voted for #1. Just make sure you read some reviews of people who bought #1 before you get it, you don't want to find out it is a lemon (I doubt that would happen: Corsair is a trusted RAM supplier).

    Cheers,
    Mer

tigher timings? For amd maybe, but intel never seemed to mind looser timings...

I voted #2 b/c they are similar and its $100 less. It'd be good enough for me.

isnt there like a 2.8 OMG!!!1 ExTrEME version or somthing....then you could just round that off to 3.0 and whalah! You got a 3.0
    lol

Anyways, I dont know about nvidia's new cards like 7xxx and 8xxx, but my 6800gt ran cool and quiet. Then i got this x1800xt, and its louder basically the rest of my computer combined. I think my next card might be nvidia.

So intel is releasing a new chipset thats going to be 20% faster on apps? I no nothing about this....its so hard to keep up

    EDIT:
Aceros... I just clicked on the link you provided. I have those memory sticks currently. I had those in my comp prev, then RMA'd them, and didnt want to wait for the week w/o RAM, so I just bought the GSkill I have in there now. And my Corsair sticks are brand new and just chillin on my desk, lol. Oh well. They are good sticks. They claim, they would do 4-4-4-12 at 2.1v at 400FSB...Mine weren't stable at those timings, even at 330FSB, so I RMA'd them .....I had no compalints with the memory, or them tho, they didnt even question my RMA, hehe

I take it you mean "How well does it run?".

If so, I don't know, I haven't used it yet, but apparently it is friggin brilliant.

I am beginning to regret buying it a little. It cost me $120, and it uses a PCI slot. To be honest I bought it to put on if I decided to overclock. So I might just use the stock one and replace the 80mm fan with my 120mm one.

I also upgraded the specs a little since I originally posted this, but they are in ck27's thread. I will copy and paste them here in a second.

    Intel Core 2 Quadro Q6600 @ 2.4GHz
    Intel Bad Axe 2 Motherboard (3 PCI-E, 2 PCI)
BFG GeForce 8800GTS Overclocked (Upgrading to SLI around Christmas)
    2 x (2 x 2GB Corsair Dominator RAM DDR2 800MHz) YES 8GB RAM
    Enermax Galaxy 1000W Powersupply
Creative X-Fi Music 7.1 Sound card
    Creative 7.1 speaker set
LG 22" widescreen monitor (Or my 26" HDTV)
    Titan Amanda CPU cooler
2 x Samsung DVD RW drives
    7g Arctic Silver Thermal Compound
    2 x Western Digital Raptors (150GB, 10,000RPM, 16MB cache)

    Came to around $4000
