Hello, I haven't really talked on this forum before and thought I might make a topic that is a little about myself and a little bit about mapping. So I'm presently studying computer networking and am in my first year of this study. Prior to this I studied architecture at Syracuse University for three years. During this time acquired a passion for both architecture and computer modeling. While I really enjoyed the subject, I found that as the years went on I was further discouraged from utilizing the computer in developing an architectural project. It wasn't that we didn't use to the computer, it was that I began to base all of my projects off of the computers representation abilities. My final projects were highly abstract, and emphasized the architectures existence via the computer. But people need houses. So I parted ways with that pursuit and am loving networking.

As for how mapping is concerned, I have been playing around with Hammer and have found it similar to something like SketchUp, in which I am proficient. I am also proficient in AutoCAD and Rhinoceros and am familiar 3ds Max. I'm not sure whether any of these programs have cross compatibility with Hammer. In any case I'm currently working on a map based of the theoretical architecture, Giuseppe Terragni's Danteum which is a monument to Dantes Divine Comedy. I think it would be fun to shoot zombies in a place of heaven and hell. Well If anyone has any interest in this I can think of a lot of similar projects I'd like to make. I attached four image files of the Danteum(not the actual map, that's in alpha). Thanks.

You have a great idea and I'm in full support of it. I can't wait to see the final product.

Well allow me to clarify that those are not my images but rather just images found which adequately describe the structure in question. Any any case here is a simple diagram of level design i'm planning. Players would spawn on the Danteum level and would be able to move up or down to the Heaven or Hell level depending on where they go in the level.

To show something from my playing around here is what the hypostyle hall found in the entrance to the danteum, the world section of the building. would look like in this map.

Well, this is not mapping per say, but if you know a little about scripting you should create a zombie map in which CTs can't stack, they have unlimited ammo, and friendly fire is turned on.

That right there would be my dream Zombie mod. B)

Oh and anyone who joins with "Johnny" in their alias is auto-kicked.
