The original suggestion for this change was buried in the map suggestion thread: The ZM server will now be treated with a new panic map each week from ZMP's (Zombie Lila Panic 24/7) rotation. ZMP is an old server (now dead) that used to reach 64/64 players regularly, whose maplist was separated from ZM's when it was created and a lot of panic maps were moved from ZM to ZMP. Now we're bringing those maps back. Every Friday at 3:00 am EDT the ZM server will have a new panic map available to play. Here's the schedule: 2017-09-22 03:00 EDT - zm_choddapfpanic1 (currently on rotation) 2017-09-29 03:00 EDT - zm_choddasnowpanic_b5 2017-10-06 03:00 EDT - zm_dirty_panic_v3 2017-10-13 03:00 EDT - zm_kruma_panic_004 2017-10-20 03:00 EDT - zm_lila_cheesypanic_v2 2017-10-27 03:00 EDT - zm_lila_panic_beach_2_PF 2017-11-03 03:00 EDT - zm_lilapanicbeach_chodefix3 2017-11-10 03:00 EST - zm_lila_panic_crazy_pf_v5 2017-11-17 03:00 EST - zm_lila_panicdark 2017-11-24 03:00 EST - zm_lila_panic_darkbasement_v1 2017-12-01 03:00 EST - zm_lila_panic_f3_v3_pf 2017-12-08 03:00 EST - zm_lila_panic_fixed_pf 2017-12-15 03:00 EST - zm_lila_panic_isethen_pF 2017-12-22 03:00 EST - zm_lila_panic_lego_final_pf 2018-12-29 03:00 EST - zm_lila_panic_pfcf1 2018-01-05 03:00 EST - zm_lila_panic_tpc_v2_pf 2018-01-12 03:00 EST - zm_lila_wow_style_[S]_v1 2018-01-19 03:00 EST - zm_Spaghetti_Panic_v3 After zm_Spaghetti_Panic_v3 it'll repeat from the top. Thanks to @Kyro for the suggestion!
After thinking about this some more, I feel like a week per map is way too long. Having to wait over 4 months just to get back around to one you particularly like or being stuck with some of the less balanced ones for a whole week both seem like potential issues. I'm thinking either 2 or 3 days between would be a better fit. Alternatively, we could do 3 or 4 at a time on the week rotation.
That's a good idea. There are 19 maps in rotation, according to the list. if we could make it 20, we could just put 5 maps in and do it weekly. for a full rotation per month. I think we should keep it to a full week per rotation. Simply because some players may not be able to every day and only have time on their off days. This might force them to miss a full set of maps. (depending on how the rotation would fall.) Four months does seem kind of long, when you point it out.
Did we also used to have a 24/7 Firewall server? Could also possibly do a Firewall rotation along side it.
@Brian will the map appear in the nominations list as the very first map to grab attention (like the "Soup of the Day"), or will it be in its alphabetical place?
This sounds like a good idea! I think a great way to make this into a robust idea and to respond to Momo's concerns is to allow higher tiered admins, such as Level 3 and LSAs, able to nominate the map if players are showing a high demand for it.
Yeah we may end up tweaking this a bit. We did not but we can always add more maps to the list (though perhaps any new additions should be considered for the actual rotation). It's alphabetical currently. Soup of the day style is definitely doable if you guys think that's better. It would allow players to see what the current panic map is for that week rather than having to come check this thread, which will only be accurate for the first four months. I am a tiny bit worried it might give the map too much attention to where it's being nominated and played too often. I don't think it'll be an issue but if it is we can always reevaluate this. They can currently set any map as the next map. Not quite the same as a nomination but it always comes with a vote so it's not too far off either.
There is a command that used to be level 3. Not sure what access it is now but lsa's can definitely add a map to the nominations list by force.
IIRC, the rotation broke because of something. IMO, if Brian can manually add in a new map every week, we can start with whatever panic map at first and have a weekly voting for say 4-5 random lila suggestions, use the voting emoji's on a post to decide what the next map will be or something. That, at least at first thought is the easiest way to get the rotation happening again. Or, if the maps are itemized in a numbered list, we can use a random number generator to decide the fate of next weeks map.
