Has any one gotten the red rings of death on there 360 here? Well I have 2 times and im tired of it. What should i do? Should i get an overpriced ps3 or a wii that has no games on it. Maybe ill just get rid of my consoles and get a new 160g ipod?

    Any suggestions would help alot

What ive heard (Dont try this unless if your absolutely screwed) Turn your 360 on and wrap it in towels, then let it run for a good half an hour, then shut it off and wait a good half an hour to an hour for the thermal paste to re-seat its self back on the CPU/GPU or drain to the bottom of your case, and if that works you can say "Thank You Kyle!"

Ill be sure to say thank you :teehee: plus if you try and fix it this way it doesnt void your warentee.

If you mean the red ring of death, then you're screwed. You'll have to contact Microsoft to send a shipping box for the console so you can mail it to their repair center. How do I know? My 360 got the same red ring of death. As long as you purchased the console with in the last 3 years(has it been out that long?) it will still be under warranty, and all shipping expenses will be prepaid by Microsoft.

Please send it into microsoft warranty. Take advantage of it because they hate when people do.

if 1,2,4 are ok to get they all mean different things and usally you are able to fix them. 3 red lights is hardware falure and you cant fix it unless you are willing to take apart yuor 360

I tried it but doesn't work. I was reading online that it has a 10%-30% chance of working. It cant hurt to try everything you can without voiding the warentee though.

And to answer reaper my 360 is 4 months old

Ive heard that they have fixed the problem with the new ones there making. The problem was it was getting so hot that it melted the chips/wires inside of it. So microsoft put in more durable chips and wires and made it cool of alot faster by putting more fans. I think the best way to avoid the red lights is to stop playing so much  but we know thats not going to happen. So im going to invest in one of those inter coolers they sucks the hot air out of the 360. there only 30$

When did you buy it? Bungie left Microsoft due to the fact that they couldn't fix the problem, if they did accually fix the hardware problem... Bungie made a cocky move.

If you buy the ones that require soldering and you muck it up, it causes the Rings Of Death.

Also, recently upgraded my "Xbox 180's" hard drive to 500gigs instead of a measly 10, Works great on live with loading times, And the lag is gone when I run 4 people in match making.

    The Xbox version is 1.1

Ive heard if you get the inter coolers that are run out of the main power that they can cause the red rings. But if you use the ones that are plugged into the usb port they don't cause them

Ya, I wasn't aware they had inter coolers that ran off of the USB ports of the 360.
