Any instruction on how to remove the magazine-thingy in the main windows? It's useless.

I think if you long press the home screen and go to settings there is an option for My Magazine.

Not going to happen on an S 5 unless its T-Mobile  Maybe Sprint, I forget. All of the other carriers are locking the bootloader for everything. Would have to get a Google Play Edition from Google of the phone in order to flash other stuff (we can flash ROMs, but only TouchWiz based using safestrap).

Did a little theme stuff of my own.. going for a Halloween type thing. Did the signal bars (luff did them originally but I gave him the wrong files), the 4G LTE logo, signal in and out for that, and then the wifi signal bars.. wifi is still a bit messy as its giving me fits on Photoshop.

Thanks @Luffaren for the Photoshop pointers!

The clock is done by a mod and I can't figure out where its storing the files for it... gonna check it's .apk. The orange on it is a bit off. There isn't a hex field for the clock addon.

Ah.. now that I think of it the clock might be a smali or xml edit in SystemUI.apk or framework-res.apk >.>

Whelp, the clock is 255,143,0 and everything else is 255,145,0 and I don't think I can get them any closer. I edited the status_bar.xml inside of the SystemUI.apk to a style I made in the style.xml and it still isn't the same color. Something called potato clock is handling the clock style and its color... I edited it's line in the status_bar.xml to pull from my style but it didn't really do anything. Managed to get that close on the color slider.

Just in case anyone is interested this is what it looks like:

style.xml:
Code:

status_bar.xml:

Code:
<com.potato.systemui.clocks.ClockRight android:textAppearance="@style/HalloweenOrange" android:textStyle="normal" android:gravity="center" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_height="fill_parent" android:singleLine="true" android:paddingStart="6.0dip" />

I'm torn between that and the Nexus 6. I'm holding out for the Nexus.

The Nexus 6 seemed like a nice phone.. I picked it up and used it while I was there. It's lacking a lot of what the Note 4 can do though. If you scroll down the webpage linked at the bottom it does a comparison of features. I still don't like the no microSD slot on the Nexus devices as well..

Oh and btw, Samsung finally did something good with a speaker.. The Note 4 speaker is loud and sounds nice, so the front facing speakers on the Nexus 6 really don't give it a trump IMO.

It's true. The Note has more features. But the possibility of rooting the Nexus while completely keeping my warranty is a better option for me IMO. The Note is probably arguably a better phone when you compare pure hardware.

But for me, I am big into the rooting scene. Nexus phones have (I think) the best development community. Or should I say the larger community. The whole knox BS is enough to turn me away. I really like the AOSP side of things too, though TW is not bad. But if I am going to be honest I will probably not run stock on my Note, as the Spen features are a gimmick to me at best.

If USCC was not getting the Nexus 6 the Note 4 would be my absolute next phone no questions asked.

I wouldn't worry too much about root. If I remember correctly doesn't your carrier have unlocked bootloaders anyway? Or am I confusing you with someone else... They are already making progress with root for the Verizon/AT&T phones and they have locked bootloaders. Wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't have it soon.

Absolutely. USCC has unlocked everything. But I am talking about the 1 year warranty we get when I buy a phone. I know rootability will always be there since it's a Samsung phone. I love the galaxy line, and the Note 4 is no different, but I still feel for me that a Nexus is a better fit. I don't really care about all the extra features that TW has. The only thing I'll miss is the stock camera. But I think that the camera on the Nexus will be good enough for me. I don't take professional shots or anything, just an enthusiast.

Unless you trip Knox, and I'm not even sure it's possible with an unlocked bootloader, you aren't going to void anything. I have NEVER since the Galaxy S 2 Skyrocket had anything warranty void related happen with rooting phones. Even when we tripped the flash counter when installing custom roms there were ways to reset it. The Galaxy S 5 (locked bootloader) had Knox and not once was it tripped when rooting. If you can remember, does your phone use GSM or CDMA? I can look in to this for you.

You trip knox as soon as you flash a custom recovery. Root alone (if possible) is a lot easier to do with a custom recovery. US Cellular is CDMA. It is absolutely possible to trip knox with an unlocked bootloader.

I haven't either, as I am not an idiot who goes flash happy with stuff lol. I root and also like having a custom recovery. That way I can make nandroids. If I were to just have root I would not worry as it's usually possible without flashing a custom recovery. I still like having the option to make completely backups though.

The biggest issues between the two are the no SD card and no removable battery. The battery I can deal with from having a battery pack, and I also already have a USB OTG adapter and lots of flash drives for storage. Not the same, but makes it not as much of an issue for me as it could be.
