A Web RCON for Server Admins: http://www.gamebanana.com/tools/3871 An external console put on a webpage, and working, in real-time. User friendly, and extremely useful for out-of-game administrating. Always a must-have for progressing servers! Add/Remove Entity Plugin (Stripper: Source): http://www.gamebanana.com/tools/1797 Let's you add or remove entities on/from a map before it loads. I believe this will be very useful for objects such as money crates, and such. Entity Commands by SourceOP: http://www.sourceop....op=getit&lid=12 I think this will be a very helpful tool for server administrators if a person, prop/object/ent, were to get stuck. Doors seem to jam because of props, or people get stuck into props has human by accident. They even get stuck into each other on occasion. I've recently been experiencing getting stuck in low ceilings as a half-zombie, and having to !ztele for no reason. These will allow us to move, remove, duplicate, etc. to props/objects/ents. As well as move people using simple, unharming, bound commands. It sort of works like the Garry's Mod Gravity Gun, without the gun. Instead you use commands such as +grabent & -grabent. I think this tool will prove itself to be very useful, constructive and fun. Obviously, only higher leveled admins would be allowed this ability. Let me know what you think!
As far as RCON goes, we have IRC that will be coming up soon, and it will be a handy tool to monitor in game while your out of game as well as communication.
We can't give rcon to server admins anyway, they'd be able to change a whole onslaught of shit. But yea, IRC will let admins monitor all servers, chat, reply to reports, kick, hopefully ban if we can figure the SB shit out, etc.
Well idea number 2 .... wouldent it just be easier to remove these things from the maps? SO we dont need to waste more server resources on another plugin?
Stripper is a great plugin. However, no one really used it, so I removed it from ZM1 (which was the only server that existed at the time). Tony is always rewriting SourceOP, and has most of his decent builds hidden away somewhere. While it would be nice to have, there are plugins that already can do this (they're opensource as well). That, and I'm not a huge fan of closed source VSP plugins. They tend to conflict (crash). Thanks for the suggestions, though!
it's not Stripper, it's like Stripper. And it's much better than having to edit the map again, recompile it, give it a new name, and have everyone HAVE to download the new one. Instead, you're using a special command to remove the undesired objects right before the map loads. Hardly a recourse waster. And I'm not suggesting the entire SourceOP package, just the Entity Commands, which you can download & Install separately from the SourceOP engine.
What entities would we want to remove, exactly? Adding entities may be very useful for blocking off illegal spots, though. Such as putting a grate in front of an illegal vent.
Stripper is Stripper:Source. As for resource usage, the only lookup and usage (from our previous usage of this plugin) is only at map start replacing entities. It's a powerful plugin, but when I went on a spring cleaning spree, it was removed. Is SourceOP still a VSP plugin? I downloaded the manual installation archive, however there's no binary file inside it? Either way, why risk server instability with no one to blame?
Money Crates, Refrigerators, or any other objects that the map creator made way to heavy, when setting it's physical weight, for zombies to push, yet the humans can simply shoot one bullet at it and reset it's barricaded position making it impossible to enter. Well UNremove it! lol Don't download the manual one. Download the automatic, and while installing, it will ask you what you'd like to install... You'll see. It hasn't seemed to spark any instability in any of the servers reported to use it lately. Maybe test it on a ghost-server first, then see what happens.
Stability wise test servers are meaningless, sadly. Pick the server you'd like to jeopardize and we'll go from there
