I was talking to a few players, and they raised some sentiments I've been feeling lately as well. The maps we have on the server are just bleh. Sure they are all different, but are basically the same concept. (the ones that don't follow 3 and 4 are just retarded, aka UglyZMap, the nippers maps...c'mon these maps are soooo unpopular for the ones that don't smoke pot while playing CSS.) Here is the usual grind: 1) buy a rapid fire gun. 2) run to your favorite hiding spot or ledge/platform 3) build a cade 4) hold the zombies off, while trying to maximize kills. When i played here a year and a half ago with my brother, I played just as much, and it never got old. The only thing i can see that's significantly changed are the maps. Even for a 56 player server, some of these maps are just WAAAY to big. As they get bigger, they undoubtedly have more inaccessible spots to zombies and more rooms. As a result, the zombie hordes get spread out. I feel like I'm playing hide and seek/tag instead of fending off a horde of zombies. When i'm a zombie, it's mainly just me trying to outsmart the guy behind the cade. We need to bring back some of the older maps. 1. I think maps like ATIX_Helicopter encourage the feel of zombie hordes. It's small, and has only a few decent spots to group up, but these spots have room for a lot of ppl. 2. The lila panic maps are ok, except for some of the underground rooms. 3. zm_towers_V3 is good, (but it's been removed for a while) it's similar to the lila panic maps, but the tunnels aren't so good of a hiding spot. 4. Roy maps are generally well planned and thought out except for: 4a. Highway: as much as i enjoy it, it's too big and has too many cheap ass spots. 5. Nat's ship: one of my all time favorites, but let's face it, the fucking cannon is lame, not b/c it's great for tk'ing, but b/c the zombies just sit there and do nothing. 6. 4 way tunnel is too huge, people just camp the elevator shaft or the ledge in the main cylinder. the zombies just ride the elevator up and down. 7. Please just remove Jungle_Rge, and the nippers maps...they just plain suck, we play one round then 20 ppl scream RTV. toss yeaaaah in this group as well. 8. Temple would be fine, but humans go to the ledges EVERY round. you can nab the dumb ones, but if they play half smart it's impossible to get them. Other suggestions: I'll say it again, auto-snipers need to be removed.(this was 2nded and 3rded by spar and taters in another thread) Maybe automatic weapons should have limited ammo, (like 1000 rounds for an MP5), and pistols have infinite ammo. If that can't be done, maybe turning down the cash level so people can't always afford the nicest automatic weapons would be better.
The maps are too easy for humans, we need more maps like Deep Thought Remix (Not on rotation or fastdl) and Lila Panic, where humans actually have to fight to survive, and i also think AnotherUglyZMap is the worst map we have and its played WAY to often.
When i get some time ill go over the map list. All the admins can be a part of it we will do it late at night like 1 am central.
agreed. We need maps that are easier for zombies. Half the time, when i get zombied these days, i just find a safe spot and chat to players til the next round. It's really no fun being a zombie on a lot of these maps. thanks ck, give us some heads up
All in favour of autos being banned speak up now and I'll talk to Cam about it. I support this. We have talked about new maps and a new rotation since the time of John. But nothing has been done. we should do what we used to with Cam. Sit at home in a Friday evening, get a few snacks and test maps into the wee hours if the morning. That was a blast. We can arrange it this Friday. Everyone be on Vent at night and Ill be there with a mic. We can either wait for Cam or someone who has access to the FastDL, or pick a load of maps on our own and bring them up to said person. If you guys are up for it, I have some free time this weekend.
