Youll probably be better off re installing. Someone here will post a program so you can find out what pieces are inside the computer and then you can go download the drivers you will need.
OK for xp i know you can go to start, right click "my computer". once you do click on manage. After this you will have a screen com up that will say "computer management." You will want to click on device manager. YOu can take your time going down the list and writing down what you have for all your stuff. If you built the machine you will need drivers for the video card, and basically anything that runs lol. Example your mouse has drivers, headsets, keyboards. Technically you don't have to install the drivers and they will work but not to that ability that they could if you have the proper drivers. Easiest thing is to go for each part and go to the companies web site and get the drivers for each product. So when you decide to do a fresh install you always have them or if they ever get corrupted. I have all my drivers from dell on a cd so i can get the system back to what it needs to be quickly as possible i should actually say. Do you have xp or vista cause there is some programs that can go in and clean up xp very nicely. One is smitfraudfix but you will only want to run this program with xp, again use it with xp only, vista will not be good news. http://www.majorgeeks.com/download6019.html Download that and run your computer in safe mode with that program and it should clean all the trash out of your system. Hope that helps with getting it clean. Hell you can even go to google type in "free avg" and use there free copy of antivirus to help. Good luck.
lol good programs but i have about 4 more that will clean that up along with alot more problems you will have with a system32 error, free avg is good but the license one is oh so much better
Nod32 wins, Kaspersky a close second if you can deal with your AV using over 1GB of ram when it scans...
