The big debate on the server today.. (Explosive Barrel Minging)

The big debate on the server today was "Is jumping over the barrels while someone is already going through them and blowing them up against the rules?" My opinion would be Yes, but others say different.

All I saw was someone getting ready to try and jump over the barrels, like a lot of people do on that map. If they were going to blow them up on purpose, they'd just run straight into one of the other barrels or jump onto the side of them. All that guy did was try to make it through with someone else already there, nothing more.

You can't ban people for trying to get through it when others are already in there. That's just plain retarded. I know all of you cried to Ray about it, but how are you going to enforce it? Just make people go one at a time and ban anyone who dies there? Having that rule there will just cause more trouble than it's worth, since it'll just make people grief even more due to people liking to break rules.

It's not that hard of a jump once you find the right timing. Most people either bump the edge or jump too soon and barely clip the barrel, like in the video he posted for 'evidence'.

This whole conversation stemmed from an incident that happened before this "evidence" was recorded. This video doesn't look like anything more than two people trying to get through.

Mr.Truth was egging a player on to purposely run into the barrels to blow Agorophobic Dream( I believe it was her ) up. He then did.

I didn't cry to Ray about it. In fact, Ray and I had a conversation DAYS ago about the behavior and came to the conclusion that it was a punishable offense.

The people that I've punished and informed about it have understood it and stopped the behavior. It is equivalent to breaking someone's cade or sitting on the edge to turn and kill your fellow teammates in Zombie mod.

You can't ban someone for accidentally blowing up the barrels..or make them go one at a time.Most people have noticed that people want to be assholes and jump in and kill others..they wait turns which in the end..holds up the map even more. Which is just fucking annoying.

In the end..if we are going to have team killing rules like no barricade breaking or blocking..it makes sense to have a no griefing rule. It all falls into the same category and it makes game play a ton more fun for the players that aren't dickheads and that genuinely just want to become better players.

Don't get me wrong Femme. If someone purposely jumps on the barrels to kill anyone in there, then sure I can see why it would be frustrating. The thing I'm trying to point out is how do you enforce it? Unless you're specifically watching that room in spectate, or sitting in the doorway, there's no way to definitively tell if it was on purpose or not. Heck, someone could be sneaky and try to move through the barrels normal, then just 'accidentally' clip the edge of one. Again, how can you enforce it without being able to ensure that it was on purpose or not? That's what I've been trying to point out.

Also, correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't whoever reaches the end get to kill everyone that's still alive anyways? Wouldn't the barrels just be one way of removing competition, since the map is basically a race?

I suck and I always die early so being a shitty players insures me plenty of time in spectate. It also helps when players egg on a specific player and he actually does it.

By suiciding you are clearly showing you have no intentions of trying to make it to the end, which means you are blowing that shit up just to get some other people.

This is my thinking on the situation.

Still, its hard to know sometimes if people deliberately do it. I personally don't think its worth enforcing.

That's like punishing for cade breaking..if you didn't see it happen and can't prove they did it on purpose..why do we punish for that?

It's just a server for me and a few friends to mess around on at times.

My opinion is that the person jumping in that video was intentionally trying to fail, but making it look like a try. Therefore, blowing up Dream.
